Cyberchase...

Today Caleb was watching Cyberchase (pbs kids). I'm not quite sure what the episode was about, but they were on some type of secret mission to stop Hacker and his evil plans.

Caleb then requested a long list of items: backpack, sunglasses hat, sleeves (long sleeved shirt), gloves, pants, we even put socks and shoes on (which we don't normally wear around the house... actually, if you haven't noticed [which I don't know how you couldn't], but Caleb normally doesn't wear anything around the house. )

I gathered everything together but the gloves. I told him we didn't have any, but he would not drop the subject. Then I remembered I had some mittens from a couple winters back. I pulled them out and he was excited to put them on. I kind of felt bad for my poor bundled up little boy, with pants and long sleeve shirt and MITTENS right in the dead of summer. I turned the AC up because this boy is a sweater even when he's not all covered up, but he was loving it. He was crawling around, running and jumping, and doing all sorts of moves you'd do if you were on a secret mission. I kept calling him my little cyberchaser :)

Big Brother Caleb...

Caleb is the best big brother ever. He takes such good care of Marcus. He needs to know where Marcus is at all times. He always wants to hold his hand. And he makes sure that Mama does her job at taking care of Marcus.

Yesterday I had Marcus on my lap. I was bouncing him on my knee because he was a little fussy. Caleb comes up to me and says, "Mama, I hundy. Attle jush an feeyum." Which means, "Mama, I'm hungry. Apple juice and ..." I wasn't quite sure what that last part was. I asked him to repeat himself so he said, "Attle jush an feeyum." Hmm... still couldn't figure it out. "Can you show me what you want Caleb?" He says, "FEEYUM!" and puts his finger in mouth and starts sucking. I said, "You want a finger?" What a weird request. He says no and continues to suck. "A straw?" It sure looked like he was acting out using a straw, but 'feeyum' sure does not sound like straw to me. I just couldn't figure it out, then Caleb says, "No Mama, Marcus! Feeyum!" Oooooh... Feed him. "You want me to feed Marcus?" "Yes, Ma. Feeyum!" So sweet. Watching out for his little brother. Making sure Mama's not starving him. Telling Mom how to make him stop fussing. Too cute.

It's also really cute when Caleb wants to read to Marcus. It makes me smile when he does this.

Changes...

This is what you'd normally find Caleb doing.

He loves, loves, LOVES video games. He'd be completely satisfied playing games ALL day long. (And I do have to say, he is extremely talented at figuring out how to play. I mean, he's only 3 and he's almost as good as me. However, it's not the most healthiest/educating activity) I tried limiting his playing time, but with the begging and pleading all day long, I found myself giving in more than I'd wanted. But thank goodness things have started to change. We've started a system (inspired by my aunt and her kids). We use, what we call, game bucks. It's been a wonderful aid in getting Caleb to eat his meals, and actually try new foods. We use game bucks as rewards, or he can do things to earn some. The begging and pleading has gone down because he knows that if he doesn't have any game bucks... no games.

We've also had a lot of activities going on this week. We finally made it back to playgroup, we had friends over a few times, we went to the playground lots, we went to the pool... we had lots of physical/outdoor activities and less sit around the house time. It was a busy week, but a nice change. We need to keep this up!
